Born in Washington, D.C., and attended school in Carthage, Tennessee.; graduated, St. Albans High School, Washington, D.C., 1965. Served in Army 1969-1971 in Vietnam, and was an investigative reporter for the Nashville Tennessean from 1971 until 1976. Democratic Party presidential nominee for the 2000 presidential election. Gore won the popular vote but lost the electoral college vote. Mr. Gore was unable to overturn through litigation, Florida’s election results which gave 25 electoral votes to Mr. Bush. He has recently become popular due to his environmental activism where he champions in books and a movie the theory that human activity is causing global warming. In December of 2007, Al Gore shared in winning the Nobel Peace prize for his work on global warming. |
